Do not let “later” quietly become your life.

You know later rarely sounds like rebellion, it often sounds reasonable. We often use life being too much, we say we will forgive when people that hurt us apologize, we say we will obey when we feel ready, we say I will start taking God “seriously” when I am older. The danger of later is that it lets you “feel” obedient without actually obeying. You would say you still agree with God, you still intend change, you still plan to do what is write but for some reason just not today.

But you know your intentionality to do something is not obedience and tomorrow is not promised.

I don’t like to give the devil any thought but I think think he doesn’t always need you to say “no” to God, sometimes he only needs you to keep saying, “not yet”. We don’t know the time or the hour, that “not yet” is just essentially a “no”. “Never” often scares but “later” comforts you.

As you keep waiting for the perfect time, your heart is being trained to ignore what God is saying now. Hebrews 3:15 says, “‘while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”’ Today! No when you feel stronger, not when you life gets easier, not when obedience become easier or painless. Today!
